Ready, set....panic?

No, really, I've largely pushed past the panic at this point and have settled down into low level anxiety. I have a FOURTH grader! And a SECOND grader! And what we will I guess call a kindergartner this year. There is so much stuff to do! In a very out of character move, I've actually made a to-the-minute schedule for each kid, not so much because I expect to stick with it as because I wanted to see exactly how/whether it would all potentially work. It...might. Dave is very excited about making some kind of...thing for me on the computer with which I can do a different schedule for different days and switch things around easily and use pretty colors. Whatever makes him happy.

Science! I ordered a subscription to Discovery Education Science the other day. It has videos, quizzes, online labs, e-books, et. al. for elementary and middle school on Life, Earth and Space, and Physical science. I think I'm going to have Ari and Milo work on physical science through that, and we'll also be doing some history of science stuff tying in to SOTW 1. And I might, if I feel especially inspired and ambitious, order more of the Science in a Nutshell kits this year. I know WTM says we're supposed to do life science this year, but 1. I've always found the science/history alignments in WTM a little forced and 2. we did life science (sort of) last year. Physics is the only thing we haven't really covered formally at all.

Turns out the Tin Man Press stuff I thought I ordered I did not actually order at all. I'm not sure how that happened. Anyway, now I have no money to order it (so perhaps it's good the order didn't go through after all), so I think I'm going to buy a smaller version of the order as a download for now.

I'm planning on starting, I guess I should mention, as it helps to put my panic/anxiety in context, on Monday. Dave was supposed to go back to work Monday, but he has a furlough day, so he'll be here to see all the chaos go down.

I was going to use this space to make a list of things I need to accomplish before Monday, but now I can't remember what they are. Panic! Well, today I worked on the school room a good bit, putting away all the school supplies I've bought at various back to school sales over the past week (note to self: check school supplies BEFORE heading to Target next time. I now have enough glue to last through my grandchildren's school years). Okay, I'll try:

1. Figure out how to schedule grand science plans
2. Call swim place to find out when classes will be
3. Send in homeschool soccer forms
4. Panic some more.

That will have to do for now.

We're starting Monday, also, and my to-do list has your items 3 & 4 on there as well. ;)
